What do you get when you combine Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting sales teams, leadership, marketing and special guests in competition in the name of a life-saving mission?

108,000 envelopes of tomato, cabbage, okra and squash seeds destined for communities in need around the world.

Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting Elevate Annual Sales Conference brought together over 830 guests from more than 20 countries at the JW Marriott Resort in Phoenix, Arizona January 31-February 3, 2018. For the first time, the team partnered with an organization to leverage the power and energy of the team to benefit a charitable cause.

Eight teams filled the JW Marriott Resort’s ballroom and competed to stuff a total of 100,000 envelopes with seeds within 90 minutes. The collective teams well-surpassed their goal by filling a total of 108,000 envelopes.

Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting partnered with the humanitarian organization Global Aid Network® (GAiN®)  for the initiative. GAiN relieves suffering, restores dignity and reveals hope in the toughest places through three core programs: Food and Agriculture, Clean Water (wells and filters), and Critical Care (blankets, clothing, disposable medical and hygiene supplies). GAiN resources and coaches in-country team members to develop sustainable agriculture and water solutions throughout Africa and provides essential meals and critical aid to refugees in the Middle East and East Africa who have fled violence or disaster in their home countries. The organization’s associates work in more than 191 countries in the world.

“I was inspired by our teams’ passion, drive and competitive spirit in support a great cause,” said Brian Peccarelli, president of the Tax & Accounting Business of Thomson Reuters. “Thanks to their work, in partnership with GAiN, thousands of people will get the sustainable nutrition they so critically need. I can’t wait to see what the team accomplishes next year!”

Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting partnership with GAiN supports the United Nations Global Compact’s (UNGC) 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, which seek to make the world more sustainable. Thomson Reuters is a signatory of the UNGC, working with the UN to shape a sustainable future.
